The renowned publisher has secured Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to lead the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently developing the anticipated third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Leadership Shift Comes After Poor Feedback
The new appointee steps into the role of studio head at the development studio following the exit of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' underwhelming initial reveal last autumn.
Recently, 2K president a key figure updated staff about this organizational change through an official communication, which stressed that early feedback sessions had revealed the need for a more defined direction.
The president expressed that the developers is now overhauling Project Ethos with a refreshed vision, aiming to better meet player expectations.
A Pattern of Key Acquisitions
The news follows a comparable move taken by 2K Games in August, when they brought on an industry veteran from Blizzard to work on the beloved franchise development group.
Below is the full message from the president's announcement:
Team—
I know you all just completed your town hall - I hope you’re as thrilled as I am with the recent updates. Previously I sent you all a note, I mentioned the following: “I believe in this crew. You all are some of the most motivated and talented creators we have had the opportunity to partner with - and we’re looking forward for that collaboration to continue.”
With your dedication and adaptability, particularly over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.
The community feedback from last fall’s the game testing phase was enlightening. It affirmed the promise of a roguelike shooter but made clear we still had work to do. It revealed the need for a clearer brand.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve come. You embraced the criticism to heart and reimagined Project ETHOS with a refreshed vision - one that’s positioned to fulfill its potential to our audience.
The trust in Project ETHOS grows every day. To boost the incredible development you’ve made, It is a pleasure to announce the new hire as the latest Lead of the team. Following a period of discussions, Ben comes aboard us on the specified date.
Ben’s guidance and experience in the PVP shooter field is extensive, having dedicated the past decade and a half developing and leading some of the most well-known franchises in the industry, for example Call of Duty: Black Ops, and more recently, the battle royale hit.
Please join me in receiving him in the coming days. We are all excited to keep seeing the evolution of the game in the time to come.
David

Brinkman previously was employed at Treyarch and Activision in multiple production roles on the iconic franchise games, and, earlier in his career, had stints at other industry leaders.
Title Information and Vision
The upcoming game was revealed in last year in conjunction with a public demo. At the time, the developers portrayed the game as a "no-cost, third-person perspective action-packed experience and an exciting evolution on the style."
"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Build your hero in live gameplay to match your preferred approach," the official summary reads. "Face the rivals with new abilities, risks, and tests that shift every session. Will you withdraw carefully with your collected items? Alternatively take a risk, put it on the line, and trust your team can achieve the highest spot? The option is yours."
Project Ethos lacks an official debut schedule or consoles, but players can look forward to further news as production continues.
